Chicorée à la Bergère printed its collectible buvards (blotter cards) in gold ink. Each chromo is illustrated with one French king. The date of his reign and a paragraph about each king is printed on the back of each card. These beauties were traded by school children at recess in the late 19th and early 20th century when they weren't used as blotter paper in class. Did you know that France was ruled by two brothers from 879 through 884, sons of Louis the Stutterer?
